What is blogging?

Blogging. Easy to start, hard to maintain.

Since elementary school, I’ve consistently kept a diary/journal. Up until college, my nightly ritual stopped when studying became more important than writing about my day. There were just too many distractions and reasons to why this happened. One of them was legibility and readability. By nightfall, I didn’t have the energy to pick up a pen. If I did, the first few paragraph would start out neatly, but by the last sentence, I could barely understand the chicken scratch that I had managed to scribble down. Who would read this anyways? I had good intentions of passing my life’s work down to my daughter and grand daughters…if I ever get there.

There was also my online Xanga accounts where I would write my days and feelings. I’d convince myself that it’s easier to type than to write with a pen. Only thing was, my most private thoughts still remained private. Online, I only posted about comfortable topics. Safe, but not satisfying. Last year, I started blogging about food/travel with an awesome friend of mines. We would take pictures and give the food and restaurants a personal review. That is still going on. Still think we could do better. More pictures. More food! 🙂

I still kept a journal today, but my entries span a wide range of days, weeks, and months. It’s better than nothing.

When I first created this blog, I wondered for many weeks what I was going to talk about. Will I blog on a regular basis? Honestly, I don’t know. This only came about because I needed to re-design my portfolio website. I thought a blog would add a nice personal touch to the site. So for now, this will be both a personal and professional blog.
